Pramod Shankar is a fish-loving career nomad who writes poetry that refuses to rhyme. He also takes black-and-white photographs of very colourful stuff.
A constant learner and a growth junkie, Pramod has been wearing many hats through the last 30 years. Now, he works as a coach, communicator, performer and creative consultant – nurturing personal and organizational growth, discovery and bonding.
In a world of hype and hard-sell, clients value Pramod Shankar for his simplicity, empathy, freshness of approach and accountability. Today, he keeps lighting new fires, mentoring new minds, helping people and organizations reach higher, quicker.
Mind the Monkey is Pramod’s third book, after The Power of Positive Healing (on alternative therapy for HIV-AIDS) and From the Terrace (a book of poetry). Published by Thiruvananthapuram-based Booksthakam, it comes after a gap of 20 years since his last book. Pramod describes it as ‘A book of whimsical, batty, wistful, dark, funny and fairly neurotic poems’.
The author of From the Terrace, a book of poetry (Writers Workshop, Kolkata, 2000) and The Power of Positive Healing (Gangarams, 1995), Pramod helped create Flying First Class, a book on entrepreneurship by Gautam Sinha. His writing has appeared in the collections of The British Council, Journal of Literature and Aesthetics, Poetry Society India and the Chicken Soup Series.
Pramod shoots mostly in black & white for corporate and creative contexts. He has conducted 3 solo shows, at The Leela Palace Bangalore, 1 Shanthi Road Gallery, and Sankar's Book Shop. His work is part of many personal collections.
Certified as an advanced communicator and leader by Toastmasters International, Pramod has spoken and given training sessions at Volvo, GE, Paragon Footwear, Thomson Reuters, Capgemini etc. His regular programs include Banish the Butterflies, an interactive route to speaking confidently; Pimp Your Pen, a writing workshop that attempts to bring out and nurture the writer; and A New Trip, a workshop on business creativity.
Pramod has tried out many hats in the advertising closet. As a copywriter, he’s been with Ogilvy, Leo Burnett, FCB Ulka and Mudra; as a creative director and agency head, with Urja and at his own communication consulting outfit. He has contributed to creating communications for Kerala Tourism, Volvo, GE Healthcare, Mc Dowell’s, Wipro, Novell, Johnson & Johnson, Capgemini and Louis Philippe, and has consulted with Intel, Arbitron (now Nielsen), GE and Fortis Hospitals.
